Except For Me - Saleem
Not working in prison is not an option and incarcerated people have no say as to what job they do. There are no days off — paid or unpaid — no sick days, vacation days, or bereavement days. If you refuse to go to work, the punishment is often the solitary confinement, where people are confined to their cell for 23 hours a day. Further, you can be denied visits and calls with family and even lose earned time credits that shorten your sentence or be given a disciplinary infraction that could extend your sentence. This is Saleem’s story.
