Except For Me - Jerome

Video is free to stream

Prison labor doesn’t prepare incarcerated people for reentry. Few get meaningful work opportunities that convey job skills applicable in the outside world. And the work they are forced to do is wildly undervalued, making it hard for them to negotiate adequate pay if they are able to navigate the thousands of collateral consequences that prevent employment and find work upon release. In fact, after years and years of working, most people leave prison to restart their lives with nothing. We expect them to succeed, but we’ve set them up to fail. This is Jerome's story.
