Except for Me - Andrew

The harshest reminder that slavery is still thriving is the plantation prisons in the deep South. Here, men — mostly Black and brown — still work the fields, sometimes harvesting crops like cotton for a few cents an hour and sometimes just pounding dust into the ground for nothing at all. They’re overseen by armed men — mostly white — on horseback that wield power through brutality. This is the reality at Angola, the nation's largest prison, historically home to slave plantations, and the heart of Andrew's story.
