American Denial

In 1944 Gunnar Myrdal's monumental An American Dilemma drew back the veil on the fundamental conflict between the American Creed and American practice. Plunging into the Jim Crow South, Myrdal found then that America was 'struggling for its soul'. American Denial asks: Are we still struggling for our soul - on the streets and courts of Ferguson, MO ... and beyond? What is implicit bias and how does the Unconscious shape attitudes, behaviors, political structures - in our justice system, incarceration and law enforcement systems, economic arrangements and social policy, especially regarding race? Can we be a post-racial society?
